Influence of Shakespeare
This movie borrows a lot of the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, and puts a new touch to it. Love, misapprehensions, humorous twists and turns of relationships offer a terrific basis to Will Gluck, the director who has worked on a modern story, supported by Ilana Wolpert as the co-writer.
The Fateful Encounter
This chance meeting of Bea with Ben preconditioned all the events in the movie. They are attracted to each other because of their chemistry and when they spend a day together, they share some moments together and promise a new beginning. These ongoing events in comic tones and heart warming feelings bring the reality of the present day love stories.
Couch Dilemma
The couch of Ben is the turning point in history of Bea and Ben. It becomes a symptomatic picture of their relationship, intimacy as well as vulnerability in being intimated with someone or rather allowing oneself to be so. However, this happy mood gets devastated when Bea overhears the hurtful remarks given by Ben, which brings strife and it advances the plot.
Character Relations and Development
We witness the varying nature of Bea and Ben as we read through the stages of the arc of their story. This period in time makes characters evolve in facing a problem or in misperception. This film elegantly demonstrates the complexities that exist in a modern relationship and manifests strength and weakness of the characters in the movie.
Box Office Success In September the film was not only in its eighth week as a top ten movie but was also ranked number one at the box-office in Guyana.
Nonetheless, negative reviews by critic did not make the film a disaster and, in fact, Anyone but You grossed 200 million in world gross. The commercial profits narrate that the audiences considered the romantic comedy apposite during the holiday seasons.
Film Styles and Metaphysics
It is under the direction of Will Gluck and the co-written script of Ilana Wolpert that has contributed to the shaping up of this story line. Insertion of Shakespearian style stories in today settings evidences how creative the director can be. Besides the use of cinematography, the use of soundtrack and general aesthetics of the visuals contribute to attracting the audience into the movie.
Character Redemption and Resolution
Another topic that the movie explores is redemption and resolution whereby Bea and Ben seek to gain some average ground between them after differences between them made them think less of each other, and redemption or resolution is needed. Through this the conflicts are solved with the satisfaction of a warm ending of the viewers.
Punchlines and Group Acting
The storyline of Anyone but You is an effective attempt to mix the humor and romance genres. Despite the fact that some other actors contributed to this funny movie very well such as Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown and Rachel Griffiths among others.
All of them were a part of a chorus that created comic elements in this feature. Each of the ensemble casts has his respective taste that makes reading spicy by adding more to think about.
Late launch and Scandals
On one occasion, it even happened that release date was rescheduled because of unexpected controversies surrounding one scene in it. However, the battling nature of filmmakers also helped Anyone but You to go through all these odds and become available to viewers. It also served as a ploy of determination so that people would enjoy watching.
