Story
The movie “Super Mario Bros.” introduces two Italian-American brothers, Mario and Luigi, who were raised in Brooklyn. The two brothers have had a tough childhood, especially with their father, who seems to have a distant relationship with them.
Mario and Luigi work as plumbers and are on the job when they discover a warp pipe that takes them to a parallel universe, the Mushroom Kingdom.
In the Mushroom Kingdom, they meet Princess Peach, the ruler of the kingdom and is under attack by Bowser, a tyrannical king of the Koopa tribe. Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, and her kingdom needs a hero to save her and defeat the evil king.
Mario and Luigi decide to take on the challenge, and they embark on a journey to rescue Princess Peach and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Review
The upcoming movie, based on the famous game franchise Mario Bros., has an all-star cast that complements the popularity of the Mushroom Kingdom. The film is powered by a beautiful blend of colourful 3D animation from Illumination and the designs of Nintendo’s Mario Universe.
The vibrant and lively animation is sure to captivate the viewers and transport them into the world of Mario Bros. The movie is primarily targeted towards Nintendo fans and is expected to be a big hit amongst them.
However, it may not be able to offer much beyond that. Although there are plenty of Nintendo Easter eggs throughout the film, it takes away from the story and character development the audience craves.
The story’s lack of depth, substance, and characters may not appeal to everyone. Viewers not well-versed in the Mario universe may struggle to connect with the characters, and the story may appear shallow.
The focus on including as many Easter eggs as possible may have come at the cost of storytelling, which may hurt the overall movie experience.
In conclusion, the movie’s stunning animation and an all-star cast are its biggest strengths. However, the focus on catering only to the fans may have resulted in a lack of depth and substance in the story and characters.
